GHRH Analogues and GHS-R Ligands
Two receptor families define this category. GHRH analogues are structural derivatives of the 44-residue GHRH sequence; GHS-R1a ligands are short synthetic peptides characterized by binding at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a, a G protein-coupled receptor unrelated in structure to the GHRH receptor.
Tesamorelin is a full-length GHRH(1–44) analogue with an N-terminal trans-3-hexenoyl modification. CJC-1295 (No DAC), also written as modified GRF(1–29), is a tetrasubstituted 29-residue GHRH analogue without the drug-affinity-complex maleimide group. Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide GHS-R1a ligand. The CJC-1295 + ipamorelin product combines one compound from each family in a single vial.
